Fern & Friends Care Ratings Explained

Please note, these are just our recommendations for our plants. We would always recommend researching and reading up on your plants if you want to ensure the best care.

Care Rating 1 - Beginner

These are the easiest houseplants to care for therefore ideal for beginners. They are almost impossible to kill, and it’s easy to tell if something’s wrong. If you do manage to kill them, chances are you can revive them easily. These plants require minimal care and can be left to their own devices. No Problem!

Includes : Spider Plant, Pothos, Peace Lily, Snake Plant

Care Rating 2 - Easy

These plants aren’t too different from those in rated 1. These will generally have a preference for certain conditions but will bounce back quickly once they’re happy. They might have an additional simple care requirement e.g. bottom watering, warm water. 

Includes : Calathea, Monstera, Prayer Plant

Care Rating 3 - Intermediate

These require a bit of knowledge regarding houseplants. These plants may have specific needs or require regular attention. It should be easy to tell if these plants are unhappy, and you should be able to cheer them up. Most plant parents should feel comfortable caring for these plants.

Care Rating 4 - Experienced

These are the plants that we would consider tough to care for ourselves. They may be very picky about their conditions, or not as forgiving as the other categories.
